Updated 12 October 2026 · Always confirm current rules with the municipality

Frederiksberg is its own municipality, surrounded by Copenhagen, with a stately mid-century town hall a short walk from Frederiksberg Gardens — one of the city’s most romantic photo locations.

Why couples choose it

  • Close to the centre, but its own booking system — a second chance if Copenhagen is full.
  • Garden photos straight after the ceremony: lakes, a Chinese pavilion and tree-lined avenues.
  • Easy dinner options nearby, including the historic Josty pavilion in the gardens and the Royal Horticultural Society’s glasshouses.

Good to know

Frederiksberg is also very popular, and in peak season (April–October) can book up weeks in advance. Apply to the Agency of Family Law first, then book through the municipality. Always check current ceremony days, guest limits and passport-check rules on the official site.

Frequently asked

Is Frederiksberg easier to book than Copenhagen?

Not always — it's popular with international couples and can book up weeks ahead in high season. Check both and stay flexible on dates.
