What a Wedding in Copenhagen Really Costs (2026 Prices)
Realistic 2026 budgets for a Copenhagen elopement, a small city hall wedding and a full celebration — fees, photographers, venues and the extras couples forget.
Updated 12 October 2026

Copenhagen is famous for being expensive — and for food and drink it is. But the part that brings most couples here, the marriage itself, is cheap. How much you spend depends almost entirely on how much celebrating you add around a five-minute ceremony.
All figures are 2026 estimates in euros (DKK ÷ ~7.46).
The fixed costs
| Item | Cost |
|---|---|
| Agency of Family Law application | DKK 2,100 (~€280) |
| Town hall ceremony | Usually free (Copenhagen scrapped visitor fees in 2025) |
| Registrar at another location | Extra fee — ask the municipality |
| Translations / apostilles | Varies by country and document |
Three realistic budgets
1. The city hall elopement (2–6 people): €1,000–3,500
| Item | Typical range |
|---|---|
| Application fee | €280 |
| Photographer, 1–2 hours | €400–1,350 |
| Bouquet & buttonhole | €80–250 |
| Hair & makeup | €200–450 |
| Celebration dinner | €100–150 per person |
Prefer someone else to handle it all? Agency packages that bundle the paperwork, ceremony and photographer are commonly advertised at around €2,500–3,300.
2. The small wedding (10–30 guests): €6,000–20,000
Add a private dinner in a restaurant or a glasshouse venue, a longer photography package, flowers for the table, and perhaps a private registrar for an outdoor ceremony. Venue hire in central Copenhagen starts at around DKK 8,000 (~€1,100) per day for smaller spaces; catering is usually charged per person on top.
3. The full celebration (60–120 guests): €35,000–90,000+
Hotel ballrooms, harbour warehouses and North Zealand castles. Per-person packages at seaside and castle hotels can run from roughly €120 to €350+ before drinks. Budget for a planner, a band or DJ, and guest transport if you leave the city.
Where Copenhagen saves you money
- No legal fees beyond the application. The ceremony itself is free in most municipalities.
- Short ceremonies mean short photography bookings. A one- or two-hour package covers a city hall wedding well.
- Weekday dates are easier to book and often cheaper for venues.
Where it doesn’t
- Food and alcohol. Danish restaurant prices are high and wine adds up fast. Ask about drinks packages.
- Peak season (May–September) for venues and hotels.
- Getting to the venue if you marry outside the city — transport for guests is easy to forget.
